team, embedded within Research and Development, you will be empowered to shaping the strategic direction and future growth of the Neuroscience business, and a typical day will include:


  • Lead the commercial strategic direction of Neuroscience (Psychiatry and Neurology) assets in early and mid-stage development
  • Serve as commercial expert for prioritized disease areas within Neuroscience Therapeutic Area
  • Partner with Global Business Development and Center for External Innovation (CEI) teams on evaluating business development opportunities within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area Unit


  • Lead the Commercial/Brand Sub-team of the Global Product Team (GPTs), a cross functional team charged to develop the global commercial strategy, Target Product Profile and commercial analysis of developing assets
  • Provide commercial input/insights to GPTs, as well as partner with GPT Leaders in the development of overall asset strategies
  • Direct/ implement strategic commercial projects to inform asset strategy and clinical development plans
  • Seek alliance and input across Takeda s Business Units on asset strategy and key commercial decisions
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to obtain insights that inform asset strategy and commercial direction
  • Develop and communicate strong understanding of treatment protocols, level of unmet needs, potential patient segments, and competitive pipeline to identify targeted product concepts with necessary product profiles
  • Work with Global Insights team to ensure market dossiers are created and market updates are routinely updated
  • Provide commercial insight and market knowledge in support of opportunity assessments and asset valuations
  • Represent the commercial view of business development opportunities in relevant senior management forums


  • Undergraduate degree required graduate degree preferred (i.e. MBA, MSc, PhD)
  • Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience working in commercial (new product planning, global strategic marketing, market access, operations, strategy consulting) roles that demonstrates strategic thinking, problems solving skills, analytical ability and understanding of global markets.
  • Ideal experience should be a combination of global strategic roles (new product planning, global marketing, operations, strategy consulting) and in-market commercial responsibilities (brand team, digital marketing, market access, sales, sales training, market research) which demonstrate strong understanding of implementation at the region/country level
  • Must have experience leading cross-functional teams and preferably GPTs where asset strategy development has been demonstrated
  • Innovative product launching experience across either common, rare disease, or in both markets is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate deep understanding of the global drug development process
  • Neuroscience experience, neurology and psychiatry, is highly desired
  • Additional desired experience includes market access, market research, global brand planning, KOL engagement, and working in the context of collaboration agreements or partnerships
