As an intern in the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetic (DMPK) Translational Research Modeling and Simulations (M&S) group at San Diego, the candidate will participate in drug discovery and development by supporting the translational research group in developing and maintaining a database of pharmacological and pharmacokinetic data. Candidate will further help develop various analysis scripts to help interpret the data within the constructed database.


  • Help define the appropriate database structure by working with interdisciplinary teams to identify various studies that will feed into the database

  • Communicate with key stakeholders and perform internal searches to find appropriate data and aggregate it into the database

  • Help identify and develop simple analysis scripts that will allow for appropriate data interpretation (e.g. PKPD analysis)


  • Undergraduate student in good academic standing with a major in a quantitative field (engineering, science, etc) (Second or Third year students preferred)

  • Candidate should have an excellent academic record and a great work ethic

  • Candidate should possess good communication skills and be open to working in a collaborative environment

  • Candidate should be highly motivated with a strong interest in quantitative analysis

  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Expected hours: 10 - 20 hours while school is in session; up to 40 hours during school breaks

  • Expertise with Microsoft Excel desired

  • Exposure to MATLAB is a plus
