As a Director for Partnership Engagement you will be working on the Global Development Operations team, you will be empowered to direct the overall governance framework and relationship with Takeda s full service R&D global operations partners to drive performance and provide direction to optimize the success, value and efficiency of R&D global operations partners.


  • Direct the ongoing partnership demand forecasting
  • Assure the effective application of the Clinical Trial, Global Patient Safety Evaluation (GPSE), Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) and Global Clinical Supplies (GCS) Operating Models for the partnerships and provide direction to all corresponding Operating Committees


Facilitation across Takeda s full service R&D global operations partnership activities
o Services provided globally across all therapeutic areas, GPSE, GRA and GCS
o Services include clinical study management, site management and monitoring, and supporting activities such as safety support, statistical reporting, etc.

Facilitate joint governance between Takeda and the global strategic partners
o Ensure goals and objectives are measured and reported
o Implement action plans for continuous improvement
o Monitor trends and identify issues and risks
o Effectively manage open issues and corrective actions to timely and effective resolution
o Facilitate the issues escalation process

Facilitate the governance interface with legacy partners

Promote transparency and consistency across strategic partners and between partners and R&D

Direct change management processes within Takeda related to the strategic partner relationships

Support inspection readiness of all regulated activities

Develop the template for demand forecasting (clinical trial delivery, GPSE, GRA and GCS).
o Define appropriate data fields, automation of data management and reporting
o Direct Clinical trial, GPSE, GRA and GCS operating models to track intended improvements and develop plans to progress and realize additional innovation opportunities

Direct the continuous improvement of the operating models for Clinical Trials, GPSE, GRA and Global Clinical Supplies.

Provide consultative support for regional development teams, such as Japan, China, Russia and Brazil, to assure alignment with the global operating models

Direct the implementation of innovative programs to realize the full value capture with strategic partners

Participate in the Operating Committees for CNS, GI, ONC, Marketed Products, GRA and GPSE


  • BS/BA degree required; advanced technical degree preferred
  • 7+ years of applicable drug development experience, global experience preferred
  • 4+ years of line management or team leadership experience
  • Proven experience with vendor relationship management in the R&D area
  • Demonstrated success in effectively managing external suppliers including negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of clinical study processes including clinical operations, data management, safety, analysis and reporting
  • Understanding of Pharmaceutical Industry R&D strategies and operating model especially regarding GPSE, GRA and GCS
  • Knowledge of supplier business requirements
  • Ability to develop and implement new strategies and processes
  • Ability to support large and global change agendas
  • Ability to assess issues/risks and effectively implement remediation measures
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of development operating processes
  • Ability to understand financial data, identify issues and trends
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to accomplish shared goals.
  • Experience leading within a complex organization and demonstrated ability to work across functions and regions without direct authority
  • Ability to influence and work effectively with various business partnerships
  • Ability to identify the critical issues
  • Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal presentation skills
