As a Project Manager R&D Category working on the Global Procurement Team, you are empowered to decide on what is best commercially for Takeda to drive down cost within the global R&D category working in close cooperation with team members and business partners worldwide. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver assigned projects and targets which include delivering agreed targets, creating project plans that outlines Category Management Frameworks and ensuring the Annual Category Plan is executed in a timely basis
  • Collate supplier, market, category and internal business data and information for the sub-categories in scope, and develop strategies that will be scalable and aligned appropriately across Takeda Operating Companies and functions.

  • Provide sub-category input to inform the top-down target setting process and take responsibility for the delivery of significant sub-category savings targets following engagement in the target setting process.

  • Provide sub-category input into the development of the Category Management Handbook to translate the Category Strategy and Annual Category Plan into clear, practical guidance for key procurement and functional colleagues and ensure that category associates involved in operational buying activities have access to the Category Management Handbook.


    • Degree level educated, with business or life sciences degree preferable

    • Minimum three years Procurement or Supply Chain experience delivering measurable value in strategic sourcing, enterprise cost reduction, and / or operational efficiency projects

    • Demonstrated understanding of some / all of the major indirect spend categories and potential cost levers or market fundamentals

    • Minimum three years of Project Management experience including risk management, project reporting, and delivering quantitative and qualitative results in complex and pressured environments

    • Demonstrated success in managing projects to deliver against set targets

    • Demonstrated experience in delivering results and managing projects across markets

    • Strong experience in upwards communication and senior stakeholder management

    • Good facilitation and upwards management skills supported by good interpersonal competencies (communication, influencing)

    • Ability to travel (air and ground both domestic and internationality)for various meetings at Takeda and Supplier sites.


      • Education in life sciences (e.g. biology, chemistry, engineering)
      • Experience with enterprise systems (SAP) and Procurement / procure-to-pay tools such as Ariba and SAP
      • Post graduate business related qualification
