The licensed testing personnel are responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes associated with specimen processing, test performances and reporting results. Performs routine, moderate and high complexity Flow Cytometry testing and reports results in accordance with established procedures. Supports the team with adherence to appropriate quality regulations: CLIA/CAP/GCLP. Should exhibit moderate to high level of independence while working on multiple projects. Will contribute to launch of new flow cytometry assays or manage projects of strategic importance. Independently prioritize multiple projects and work load with minimal supervision. May serve as technical lead for execution of clinical sample testing from concept to completion. Be able to work under minimal supervision while consulting with peers as required. May provide direction to more junior associate in the lab.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, perform instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance
Identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect test performance/results
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
Help to maintain a safe working environment by strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures, be alert to the existence of safety hazards and reports any unsafe conditions to the department manager
Design, create, execute, and troubleshoot new procedures and assays
Authoring and reviewing technical documents including but not limited to work instructions as well as the assay
May perform maintenance and function tests of complex instruments
May work directly with external vendors to resolve QC and equipment issues
Train and assist staff with technical and operational procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices and standards associated with patient sample testing in a laboratory setting
Demonstrated experience and understanding of techniques directly applicable to the research services provided by Navigate (tissue culture, molecular and cellular biological techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, IHC, etc.) is strongly preferred
Excellent written and oral communication and intrapersonal skills required
Proficient with MS Office
Demonstrated critical thinking skills
Ability to operate independently

Bachelor s degree in a chemical, physical, biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience as a licensed technologists/CLS
Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California
